In Memory of John Thomson
John was a much-loved songwriter, poet, philosopher and bass player whose warmth, wit and musical soul touched everyone who met him. His album Yes More Blues lives on as a beautiful expression of who he was – thoughtful, generous and deeply in love with music and is available on Bandcamp.
John is remembered with love and gratitude, and his words and music continue to bring comfort and inspiration.

JT+Agnostics
JT+Agnostics were a blues band from New Zealand’s Waikato region, fronted by songwriter and bassist John Thomson alongside guitarist Maciek Hrybowicz. Their self-styled “Kiwiana blues” filtered the tradition through the spirit of Aotearoa. Their debut album Yes More Blues (2024) stands as a testament to John, who passed away in January 2025 – his words and music continue to inspire.

Carol Grimes
Carol Grimes is one of British music’s great soul and blues voices. From fronting Delivery in 1969 to recording in Memphis with the Brecker Brothers and the Memphis Horns, her career spans more than five decades. Author of the acclaimed memoir The Singer’s Tale, she remains a vital presence on the London jazz scene, performing at venues including Ronnie Scott’s and the Vortex.

Maciek Hrybowicz
Maciek Hrybowicz is a Polish guitarist, composer and producer based in the UK. After years on London’s jazz and blues scenes and an acclaimed chapter in New Zealand — where he recorded his solo album AWA, praised for its “precise and fluid guitar lines” — he is now back in the UK, writing and recording new music in his studio. His playing moves freely between blues, jazz and global influences.
